Florian Brody


Florian is Sr. Director Marketing Communications at YouSendIt, Inc., a Mountain View, CA based Internet start-up delivering big files with the ease of email and the security required for enterpise-level solutions. Previously he was Director of Marketing at A9.com an Amazon.com company developing advanced search solutions and before that, Director Business Development and Marketing at Red Herring. In 2001, he led the publishing strategy at InterTrust Technologies as Sr. Director Product Marketing. Before joining InterTrust, Florian served as Executive Director for Product Management at Themestream, a start-up built by Netscape veterans and funded by Kleiner Perkins and Redpoint Ventures. In 1999 he co-founded AlcheMe Inc., a start-up that developed a personalized user-side Infomediary on the Internet, and served as its CEO.

Florian Brody is an internationally acclaimed digital media specialist with more than twenty years experience in electronic publishing in Europe and the U.S. He has been instrumental in developing groundbreaking media solutions and communication strategies for Fortune 500 companies, including Kodak, Apple Computer and Andersen Consulting. Florian co-invented Voyager’s Expanded Books, the first electronic books to be read on a laptop, in 1991. He worked as a strategic consultant in new media for the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and was an advisor for the Multimedia Task Force of the European Commission DG III.

Florian studied Computer Science and Linguistics at the University of Vienna and worked as researcher in computer linguistics and film theory. He is a member of the Graduate Faculty of Art Center College of Design and frequently keynotes at events and is published in the field of digital media and electronic publishing.
