[UPDATED ENTRY FROM 2008] Complaining to Miriam while driving that today is another day where all traffic lights are red, she responds “That’s how the world is”. She elaborates from her elevated position in her seat, strapped in like a race car driver “The sky is made by itself and the light is green when we are far away and they are red when we are close”.
There is definitely something to this view of the world, “Our World” as she explains. She inherits the title of a “philosophe sublime” from me. In flight I always check the SkyMall for the ultimate must-have product and found a wonderful “Pet’s Observation Porthole” (not sure about the Saxon Genitiv here, I put it in quotation marks. And I quote: “This clear acrylic dome opens a window to the world that helps satisfy a pet’s natural curiosity while maintaining safety and security…protrudes 5″ [from the fence the 9″ hole was cut into] to give an inquisitive canine a panoramic view of the world beyond” – aka the neighbor’s backyard. Any self-respecting canine will tell you that you shouldn’t waste your money and she can take care of her view and smell of the world herself, thank you.
In case you have no clue what I am talking about, I will try to add an image to the text.
Now comes the interesting part: the claim is that by giving your pet “an unfettered view of its surroundings [it] may help reduce barking [balking?] or other undesirable behaviors.
UPDATE: Skymall no longer offers the product;
